The editors will consider previously published work, provided that the author produces written permission to the editors of The Left Bank Review authorizing the reprint.  The Left Bank Review pays contributors a nominal fee of $25.00 (US dollars) upon publication. The Left Bank Review is an online publication only*. Authors wishing to see their work in print will be instructed to download a public copy of the  PDF formatted file for any given issue.

Send a Microsoft Word formatted copy to editor@leftbankreview.com

Book reviews are welcome.

The Echo Journal

Introduction

The Echo Journal welcomes all forms and styles of poetry, fiction, art, music and film that are consistent with these guidelines. We are particularly interested in receiving submissions of on-line art for display throughout our pages.

In general, the presentations will be thoughtful. The collections when taken together represent a broad and high-quality range of concerns.

Special Note: avoid hate-based speech, personal attacks and gratuitous rants. These are not welcome at the Echo Journal.

The Echo Journal embodies a large number of poets, artists, musicians and filmmakers with diverse styles of expression. We are selective, but not discriminating. Not everyone is accepted for publication, but do not be disheartened if your work is declined. It is not personal or a reflection on the quality of your work. Sometimes the editor revives the submissions that once were declined for previous publication.

We happily welcome unpublished work at the Echo Journal, as it is one of our goals to get your unseen work out in the open so others can offer you constructive criticism. Don't be deterred if you see comments from the editor every now and then.

The Audience

The Echo Journal continuously queries our audience for their views. Visitors come from all continents and over 58 countries.

We strive for the presentation of quality work in a professional manner. It means we write for an audience hopefully delivering work of integrity that they genuinely expect.

Confirmation

Following online submission, you will receive an online confirmation, then another via e-mail (but only to a valid e-mail address). Users at AOL and the so-called free mail services should be especially alert to mail problems. If after repeated attempts, your e-mail fails to get through, your submission may be automatically declined.

We acknowledge the receipt of all submissions, and we make every attempt to let you know whether your work has been accepted or declined. If accepted, the confirmation will include additional information aimed at ensuring a quality presentation for our audience. The editor has to maintain a balancing act between the activities of daily life demands, however a comment on the submitted work will try to be returned if time permits. If you submit from a valid e-mail address, you should hear from us one way or another. If you do not receive word within 30 days, please feel free to contact the editor.

We ask that all authors keep their e-mail address and other data current.

Photos

The Echo Journal strongly encourages every poet and artist published here to have a picture and/or a biography. It brings attention to you and your work. Just send your photo (JPG, preferred, or GIF), we will do what we can. All submissions are subject to the editor's approval and/or modifications.

Publicity

We suggest that each author maintain a private e-mail list of personal contacts who have an interest in your work. You then can forward information about changes or new publication to increase your exposure and acceptance. However, please avoid sending unsolicited e-mail to anyone (spam).

Copyrights

By submitting, you certify that the work is yours, and not subject to any copyright restrictions. Submitters retain all rights to their work, of course, but grant unlimited use to the Echo Journal, for any current or future online publications. Use of such works in any future publication for sale and/or profit, whether online or in print, is negotiable.

Previously published work should be indicated when submitting to the magazine. If you republish any work that appears in the  Echo Journal, reference should be made to the appropriate issue.

If you have any questions regarding the submissions please direct them to guidelines@leftbankreview.com

*Note: Periodically, reviews found online may be published in print in anthology form. The Left Bank Review in such cases, will retain the copyright to the edition.
