Poetry (Continued)

Eggshells

Her ersatz sky
is a cathedral ceiling
peppered with outmoded cottage
cheese

The surfeit of recessed lighting
serves as
her Milky Way

As she steps on the carpet
strewn with eggshells
she is reminded of life's
impermanence
fragility
the yawning abyss

C-e-l-a-n

He proffered
another Rosetta
half-lit like the moon

From the not-yet
he mediated a futuristic
cache of words, phrases
and syntax

O Meistersinger Seine-
trackless millipede
before and beyond words
standing still and moving on-
I will be your apprentice
